What Are Hypoallergenic Skin Care Products And Non Comedogenic Skin Care Products? Or Are They A Con?

If you have had a nasty allergic skin reaction to modern anti aging in care products then you’re in good company and you may be forgiven for looking for hypoallergenic anti aging products. Or perhaps you’ve had your acne exacerbated by modern anti aging products and so you’d be equally forgiven for searching for non comedogenic skin care products.

Mainstream anti aging skin care products contain a range of chemical and petrochemical ingredients that can cause health concerns including skin reactions and allergies. Ingredients such as mineral oil can clog the pores and lead to acne.

However the reality is that there is no formal definition of hypoallergenic skin care or non comedogenic skin care and that any products labelled as such may or may not be what they state on the label. There are many anti aging products available labeled as hypoallergenic anti aging products and non comedogenic which are not.

This is because the FDA is not required to examine any claims made on the labels of anti aging skin care products. The industry is entirely self regulated and as a result there is no requirement that any manufacturer prove any claims that it makes on the labels of its products.

As you can see there are strong reasons to look for hypoallergenic skin care products and non comedogenic skin care products but there are also good reasons to be extremely suspicious and it’s not likely that products that you see labelled like this are in reality either hypoallergenic or non comedogenic. Many such labeled products still contain the same chemical ingredients that you should be avoiding.

So if you’ve had an allergic reaction from an anti aging moisturizer for example, how do you successfully find a good hypoallergenic moisturizer if this is the case?

Rather than examine the label you must find a manufacturer of skin care products that clearly commits itself to the safety of the products that it manufactures.

There are companies, one in particular, that publicly evidence a corporate philosophy that commits the company to producing products which only use high quality and known safe ingredients. For example there is an organization called the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and it is possible for companies to sign the compact on the website of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics which publicly evidences the intention of the company to use only safe ingredients in it’s products.

And there are also companies, again one in particular, that strive to make it clear on their website that the safety of all of their products is superior to all other considerations.

Unusually the company that produces natural skin care products in this way does not label them as hypoallergenic skin care products or non comedogenic skin care products at all though in fact this is what they are.

In other words you need to go beyond the claims made on the label and look behind the corporate philosophy of the company that makes the products to find a dedication to making safe products before all else.

Usually a company with this sort of commitment will also produce the finest skin care products available as well.

To find out which company has such a publicly stated commitment to product safety and makes the finest hypoallergenic and non comedogenic skin care products get over to my website.
